“time” is a piece I put together for a class at Berklee and, interestingly enough, it’s actually one of the few ‘rejected’ compositions that I wrote during my studies.
We were introduced to ambient music and tasked with putting something together in the genre and this was my very first stab. But, as the professor pointed out to me, it wasn’t quite ambient enough. I think it’s an apt criticism (there’s quite a bit going on in this) and, after taking a deeper dive into the examples he gave us, I was able to write something closer to spec.
I’m still satisfied with it though, so like many a reject, it makes a good addition to an album.
Meditations is currently streamable on Bandcamp and headed for Spotify later this year.
